MOLLYWOOD, Dec. 30 – Two years and a couple of snubs after the movie release, National Film Association embraced the movie ‘Vehey Vaarey Therein’ (inside falling rain) on Saturday night as it was named best picture at the award ceremony. Fathah was awarded best director, while Yuppe and Niuma took home best actor and actress awards.
Mr. Fattah gave the typical speech that he did not write his speech beforehand as he did not expect to win the prestigious award, but he realized he could win it after coming to the ceremony.
Mohamma Kalo who is more famously know in the industry as ‘moyasoru’ won best comedian. A large number of the crowd gathered at the Alimas Carnival booed him as he accepted the award. Some of the attendees present last night talked that he was not worthy of it, rather it should have been awarded to Nahu (Nahula).
‘Vehey Vaarey therein’, nominated for nine awards, the most of any film, also won for best original screen play.
After the ceremony, at a side of the stage, Ms. Suneetha the famous disco dancer turned actress was complaining to Nahula for not being offered a part in the new movie ‘Navatha’ the movie which is produced by Maramiyya films.
The award ceremony was organized by Maramiyya Group in collaboration with National Centre for the Arts. Movies, short movies and documentary movies released during the period 2003 – 2005 were automatically selected for the award. Two of the award winners Niuma and Seezan were found guilty for having sex outside marriage and sentenced in 2002.

Award ceremony for 2006-2007 is scheduled for 12th Janaury 2008
